ROYAL PORTRAITS COLLECTION

This collection was inspired by the Marie Antoinette and the palace of Versailles. The idea came to me when I was taking a screen printing course in Florence, Italy. The first print I created was inspired by the hall of mirrors, featuring golden mirrors with pink peonies scattered about. The second print I created was the many hairstyles of Marie Antoinette all twisting together into an interesting textile. This collection featured a lot of zero waste techniques as I layered old ribbons and trims into new textiles and recycled old curtains into new garments. I shot the photos of these looks in the gardens of the Villa Bardini in Florence, before they appeared in the "Vernisage" fashion show in Fall 2015.

" 'Royal Portraits' is the frills and fancies of Marie Antoinette holding court, lounging in manicured gardens and taking bites from macarons, but she has an edge that her sweet facade belies upon first glance."
